Privacy policy

Bike Planner matches weather forecasts to cycling routes: it simulates where you will be along a route at each hour and recommends a departure time, clothing, hydration and tyre pressure. You can use it without an account by searching a city or uploading a GPX file.

• Your Strava profile basics (name, avatar, athlete ID) and OAuth tokens, used only to list your saved Strava routes on your behalf.
• Your rider profile (bike type, tyre width, weight, average speed, default location), if you fill it in on the Settings page.
• Ride plans you explicitly save with “Save & share”, deleted automatically after they expire. A plan built from a Stravaroute is visible only to you and has no working share link: Strava’s API terms do not allow us to show your Strava data to anyone else. A plan built from a GPX file you uploaded is reachable by anyone holding its link.

We never post to Strava, never modify your Strava data, and never share your data with third parties. There is no advertising. We do keep a small record of product usage, described in the next section.

The first time you use a feature that calls our servers, we set a cookie named bp_gid holding a random identifier. It is not set when you merely open a page, it contains nothing about you, and it exists so that usage can be counted and so your work survives if you later create an account.

• We record that certain product actions happened: planning a ride, importing a route, saving a plan, creating an account. These say an action occurred and nothing more.
• We count how many times our servers call a paid third-party API on your behalf, so we know what the service costs to run.
• We do notrecord the route itself, where you rode, what it was called, or anything derived from Strava data. Strava’s API terms forbid using their data for analytics, and we keep no route detail in this record regardless of its source.

If you later sign in, this earlier anonymous activity is attached to your account, so that plans you made as a guest are not lost. There is no third-party analytics service involved: this record lives in our own database.

Without an account, your rider profile, theme preference, preferred mode and last searched location live in your browser’s local storage. Uploaded GPX files are processed entirely in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.

• Open-Meteo — weather and air-quality forecasts. Requests include the coordinates being forecast, never your identity.
• Google Maps — map tiles, places, and street view on the route view. See the Google Privacy Policy.

Use Disconnectin the dashboard to sign out, and revoke Bike Planner’s access at strava.com/settings/apps — this invalidates our tokens. Saved plans expire and are deleted automatically. Local-storage data, and the bp_gid cookie along with it, can be cleared from your browser settings at any time; clearing it ends the anonymous record and starts a new one on your next visit. Deleting your account removes the usage record attached to it.
